What our volunteers do
Volunteers befriend our members and encourage them to enjoy their time at the Club. They help them to join in — with dancing, playing games, making friends – and make sure they are not on their own (unless they prefer to be).
The Monday Night Club is a sociable and flexible environment and roles can be adapted around your individual skills, experience and interests.
Our Chief Officer manages and assists the volunteers and allocates duties as they arise within the different activities we organise. We also hope that our volunteers will be able to join us on our day trips during the summer.
A volunteer’s qualities
It would be an advantage for volunteers to have the following qualities:
- Kindness
- Understanding
- Gentle approach
- Experience of working with people with disabilities
- Interest in people
- Reliability
- Flexibility
- Ability to undertake tasks as part of a group and as an individual
We offer training – for example in first aid and safeguarding. We can provide employment references when we have got to know you
